Note Pads - Client Appreciation

As it turns out this is going to be a series of note pads. The second in the set is currently under development and will be given out to the attendees of a seminar held at Borel Private Bank & Trust in Los Altos later this month and is titled "Is Uncle Sam Your Heir?"

Your Place or Mine?
This note pad was sent out in our monthly Client Appreciation letters last year. It was designed to motivate clients who where thinking about selling their homes and planning on build or remodeling their existing homes to come and speak to us before proceeding. The Abigail Company is both a Real Estate and a Design firm and is well known in the Los Altos area for its unique home designs.

Trust in the Super Heroes at Abigail's
Originally titled, "Where there's a Will there's an Heir" it like so many things changed. I had half a dozen photos of Paris the female dog to work with, but she tends to be pretty indignant (I don't think she wanted to be Wonder Dog) about being dressed up and in all but this picture she was laying down. Porsche on the other hand tool it all in stride and was generally very cooperative (he's our Super Dog).

The pictures were originally taken with a digital camera (72 dpi 16 in. by 20 in.) I increased the resolution to 300 dpi and reduced the size to a more managable 4 in. by 3 in. The background had to be cropped out, and the file coverted to grayscale. Next "Levels" were adjusted to create a pleasing tonal range and to enhace the details. Then I selected those areas that needed to be shown as red. I switched back to CMYK and added a "Hue & Saturation" adjustment layer, clicked on colorized and adjusted the settings as follows

Hue: 360
Saturation: 72
Lightness: 0

Word placement was adjusted to provide balance and to minimize the fact that because of the dogs the words between them can not be centered. And as the final touch I used the "Skew" tool to decrease the slant found in the unaltered Kunstler Script.
