The Quilter's Paintbox logo
I stoped in at this brand new quilt store on the recommendation
of Annie of Simple
Arts
and had a wonderful visit with the two sisters who own the store.
Sara and Tina have recently moved back to the bay area from San
Diego where they owned a shop called "Stitching by the
Sea." Their store is located on Winchester near Hacienda, it's small
but packed with bright colors and delightful fabrics.
As we talked about possible logos they mentioned the colors that they
thought they would like to use (the lilac and the pale teal).
We talked about symbols and fonts. They like Papyrus, which I used
here, and about using a paint palette but were concerned that
the store might be
mistaken for an art store. They shared with me a block that they
used in a quilt that they had donated for auction using the block
known as "Two Sisters"
or "Sister's Choice", which is the pattern I used in the pooled
paint and on the brush.
I have so much fun designing things! and I just love it when it all comes
together so perfectly.
Dog Fancies Logo
This was designed for a friend of mine who is deeply committed to the Greyhound
Rescue in Scotsdale, Arizona. She has an on-line store at e-bay from which
she sells knitted vests, neck warmers, neck bands and tee shirts for Greyhounds.
You can find her store at Dog Fancies on e-bay.
The logo type is Juice ITC. Elongation the initial letters and tightened
the kerning are used to create a more integrated look. Shifting the baseline
for the "D" and elingating the tail of the "g" while
stretching the "i" help the unite the two words. Rotation of the
dot on the "i" reinforces the long skinny feel of the type that
typified greyhounds.
