Personal Work -
Playing with Ambigrams
An ambigram is a graphical design that spells out a word not only
as presented, but also in another direction or orientation. On this
case when the word is rotated 180°.
I decided that this was an interest art form after reading Dan Brown's
book Angels and Demons.
I really enjoy new challenges and played with several names. For this
exercise I used Kaiserziet Gotisch as the font basis for each of these
designs.
Jesse - my oldest son
I like way Jesse's name turned out, it was fairly straightforward and
required very little modification or tweeking after the initial resolution
of the letter forms.
Beth - his girlfriend
Beth, on-the-other-hand, was much more difficult. Trying to get the
"B" and the "H" to read correctly when rotated 180°
was much more challenging.
